Todd encourages and supports ministry personnel toward health, joy, and excellence in ministry practice. Contact Todd about: Conflict Resolution; Finding A New Minister; Licensed Lay Worship Leaders; Licenses To Administer Sacraments; Pastoral Relationships Policy; Resources for Transition Times; Retirement; Sabbaticals; Sick Leave; Short Term Supply Ministers; Visiting Minister Options. Todd is responsible for all the Communities of Faith and ministry personnel in the region that are located north of Highway 407.
Todd and Dale work as a team to provide training, resources and support to ministers and volunteers who support pastoral relationships. Together they coordinate the Flourish program for ministry personnel, that fosters health, joy and excellence in ministry personnel.
Over the years they have worked to nurture a training pattern with M+P Committees to equip them to carry out their responsibilities, such as Annual Assessments.
The positive response they are receiving to their program offerings is a good sign that they are hitting the right notes in terms of what support is required.
Todd and Dale provide lead staff support to the Pastoral Relations Commission, and to a network of Pastoral Relations Liaisons. Todd supports the Licensed Lay Worship Leaders while Dale supports the work of the United Fresh Start Facilitators.
The Pastoral Relations Ministers also maintain room in their schedule to be responsive to ministers who need support on a wide range of issues.
Dale takes the lead on churches south of the 407 and Todd takes the lead north of the highway.
Todd McDonald (he/him) Experience and Biography
Todd grew up in the United Church. One of his earliest memories is singing in his blue robe in the “cherub choir.” He was ordained in London conference in 1990 and has served communities of faith in outport Newfoundland, and in rural and suburban Ontario. Todd currently attends Burton Avenue United Church in Barrie.
In 2009, he became a Conference Personnel Minister for Toronto Conference. His experience of ministry guides his support to ministers as he remembers experiences of being isolated and in search of colleagues. He appreciates the value of a “personnel minister,” knowing firsthand how important it was to have someone help him work through what he was learning.
Todd and his partner Ruth live in Barrie. They have two adult children.
I really enjoy the creativity that results from collaborating with colleagues and regional council members; it’s personaly and spiritually fulfilling work.
