I have a question…
Questions We Have Received
Why has the Staff Team budget increased substantially from $944,00 to $1,238,510. How many people does this cover and how many new hires?
Shining Waters has 10.8 staff members. There was one new hire as of Oct 1, 2024 to replace retiring staff. We are in the process of hiring two more staff to begin in early 2025 to replace another retiring staff member and to cover additional work. There will be an overlap period for position shadowing/training. As well there is a 2.5% COLA increase to all salaries per the 2025 Salary Schedule for General Council Office and Regional Staff.
Why not report things like cell phones in another line item and have one for salary only?
We provide a streamlined budget to the region for discussion purposes at the regional council meeting.
$1,071,903 has been transferred from reserves to cover the deficit. How much is left in the reserve fund?
There is about $12 million in the reserve fund.
The investment income is given as $563,732. How much is the total investment?
There is about $12 million invested.
At the June Meeting, a resolution was passed that the Region was going to undergo a Financial Review. An amendment to that proposal, also approved, gave several dates for interim reports. I believe that the first date given was October 2024. Has that interim report been prepared?
The report was received by the Executive on Tuesday Nov 5. and it will be posted in the minutes of that meeting. An additional update will happen on Nov. 12 at the Regional Meeting. The ad hoc committee will also give further updates, as per the Regional Council Motion. A survey was sent around to Communities of Faith today, Nov. 8, from the Ad hoc committee.
I cannot find any minutes or decision record for the June meeting. Has one been prepared? I hope that a decision record of the Fall meeting will be prepared.
Meeting minutes are not posted online until they are approved. It is not on the November meeting’s agenda to approve the June meeting’s minutes so the draft minutes were not circulated at this time. However, here is a link to the June edition of Currents which included an executive summary of the decisions made which may help: Currents – June 2024
A November edition of Currents will contain a similar executive summary of decisions from our Fall regional meeting.
