April 7 at 7:30pm, the Metropolitan Festival Choir and Baroque Orchestra (Jonathan Oldengarm, direction and continuo) present the rarely-heard Brockes Passion downtown at Metropolitan United. The concert is preceded by a pre-concert chat with Dr. Jonathan Oldengarm at 6:30pm, followed by an organ prelude at 7:10pm.
Soloists include Michael Colvin, Evangelist; Geoffrey Sirett, Jesus; Jacqueline Woodley, Tochter Zion; and several of Met’s own lead singers, including Gisele Kulak, Veronika Anissimova, Valeria Kondrashov (Judas), Michelle Simmons, Charles Davidson and Nicholas Higgs.
A vivid, passionate account of the most dramatic week in the Christian liturgical year, this is an evening of classical music not to be missed.
