Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People, is observed on May 5th. Join us in the DPNCHC Backyard, 1900 Davenport Rd, Toronto, while Sandra Campbell of TUNM leads us in ceremony through prayers, smudge, drum and song.

Noojimo'iwewin Gitigaan, a National Healing Forests project: Fall Equinox Ceremony led by Elder Pedubun Migizi Kwe/Catherine Brooks (Nipissing FN). Waabishkizi Miigwan Kwe/Robin Rice (Wasauksing FN) will Jingle Dance in honour of Aki, the Earth; the Monarcas of Canada Nos Une/Canada Unites will offer a Butterfly Dance. Metropolitan United Church in downtown Toronto is working in partnership with the Estate of acclaimed Indigenous artist Norval Morrisseau. During the month of June reproductions of some of Morrisseau's art are on display. Met is open to the public from noon to 3 pm Monday to Friday, and on Sunday mornings.

“Mapping The Ground We Stand On” invites participants to explore Indigenous presence on the map of Turtle Island, the history of settler arrival, and how each fit into the ongoing narratives. In addition, the concepts of the Doctrine of Discovery, terra nullius, Indigenous Knowledge and Ways of Knowing will also be explored.
