Does the deep secularization of western societies mean that God has disappeared, or is it rather a path through which God leads the people to new discoveries, a new dependence on grace? Join Dr. Stefan Paas, author and expert on church planting and mission, for the day as he explores faithful responses to secularization. Two talks and accompanying breakout sessions will include material from his book Pilgrims and Priests: Christian Mission in a Post-Christian Society. Drawing on a wide range of practical insight with mission in one of the most secular contexts of the West, Dr. Paas blends his experience with a thorough analysis of relevant biblical, historical, sociological, theological, and spiritual sources that bear relevance to missional identity in the challenging circumstances presented by the secular West. He presents a hopeful perspective, rooted in a realistic appraisal of reality and rich theological reflections.
The format of the day includes lectures and group work for participants in person or online (via Zoom) as well as lunch for those who gather in person at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Toronto.
In person: $75 lunch and snacks included
Online: pay what you can (suggested amount $25)
