On September 22nd, Islington United Church and Indigenous People of Etobicoke will come together as an act of Reconciliation to bless the commissioned Indigenous mural, Etobicoke — Place of the Alders: Honouring the Original Story.
The mural has been created by renowned Indigenous artist, Philip Cote, from Moose Deer Point First Nation. Philip is an Ancestral Knowledge Keeper, Young Spiritual Elder, Historian, Activist, and Educator.
The day will begin with the lighting of a Sacred Fire and Smudging, followed by a Worship Service and Mural Blessing in the church Sanctuary. The event will culminate with Indigenous dancing, singing, drumming followed by an Indigenous lunch. The schedule is as follows:

● 11:45 am Indigenous Dancing, Singing, Drumming
● 12:30 pm Indigenous Lunch
