You are invited to join a meeting: “A Call to Revive: Renew Refugee Sponsorship and Rejuvenate the Community” – event hosted by the United Church of Canada. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.
Join this special virtual event hosted by the United Church of Canada, and organized by the Refugee Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP). Discover the many ways you can sponsor and welcome newcomers into your community, and learn about the resources and support available to you and your group.
Topics to be covered include:
• The long tradition of refugee sponsorship at the United Church of Canada
• The global plight of refugees and their reasons for resettlement (presented by UNHCR Canada)
• Extending support to 2SLGBTQIA+ and other vulnerable refugees through partnerships and cost-sharing programs (RRAP, BVOR, JAS)
• Sponsorship training and one-on-one supports available through RSTP staff across Canada
• The role of settlement agencies in providing personalized support for refugee newcomers from diverse communities
This conference will be an excellent opportunity for Communities of Faith to deepen their understanding and enhance their capacity to support refugee sponsorship efforts.
