​In this the 100th year of the United Church of Canada what better way to help with the re-formation of this denomination than by attending the presentation of the Rev. Dr. Paul Miller at St. Andrew’s United Church, Toronto on Tuesday, September 10.  The Toronto Group of the Retirees and Pensioners in Shining Waters Regional Council is sponsoring this programme at which Rev. Miller will speak on the topic, “Theology – Where Are We?  Where Are We Going?”  All are welcome.  The programme begins at 10:00 a.m. with a gathering half hour long at which refreshments are served and conversation shared.  Then at 10:30 a.m. the Rev. Warren MacDougall will offer a devotion, and the Rev. David Allen will accompany the singing of praise on the piano.  Shortly thereafter Rev. Miller will speak.  The programme will conclude at the noon hour.

The location is the sanctuary of St. Andrew’s United Church, 117 Bloor St. East, in Toronto. (MAP).  If you are using the TTC, get off at Yonge Street, walk east on the south side of Bloor Street.  Or…. use the drop off and underground parking available off Hayden Street.

Serving one another with the manifold grace of God is the stewardship to which we are called.  Registration is required please let us know by September 6 if you will be joining us. We hope to see you soon.

Our Special Guest Speaker:

Rev. Dr. Paul Miller is the Editor of Touchstone, a United Church-affiliated theological journal published three times a year. Paul was ordained by Hamilton Conference in 1981. He has served five pastoral charges in Ontario, including Westminster United Church in St. Catharines, where he is currently part-time retired supply minister.

Paul has a B.A. in history from York University, an M. Div. from Emmanuel College and a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from McMaster University.  He has worked extensively in the areas of congregational vitality and renewal.  From 2014 to 2018 he served as a full-time Support Minister for Waterloo Presbytery.  Paul is married to Rev. Dr. Diane Walker. They have four children and six grandchildren
