Where We Are Staying

Villa Loyola, under the direction of the Jesuits of Sudbury, was built as a retreat centre in 1962 on 12 acres of land on the south shore of Long Lake. Located in the city’s south end, it is only a short drive from Sudbury’s downtown core.

Over the years, Villa Loyola has become a center for retreats and conferences frequented by a wide range of secular and religious groups. Entirely renovated in 1996, Villa Loyola now offers all the essential amenities for holding conferences, seminars, work groups and spiritual retreats in a peaceful atmosphere. Villa Loyola welcomes groups from various religious traditions, as well as people looking for a place of contemplation, spiritual renewal and prayer.

Villa Loyola is located in Sudbury at 4951 Long Lake Road on the right side when coming from the city.

  • Coming from Toronto by route 69, take the ring road (by-pass) towards route 17 west (Sault Ste-Marie). After 3 km turn right at the Long Lake South exit (Route 80 South). The Villa is located about 5 km on your right.
  • Coming from the east on route 17, take the ring road to join route 17 west (Sault Ste-Marie). After approximately 14 km turn right at the Long Lake South exit (Route 80 South). The Villa is located about 5 km on your right.
  • Coming from the west on route 17, follow the ring road (by-pass). Turn right at the Long Lake exit (Route 80) heading south. The Villa is located about 5 km on your right.

Meeting Information

Our retreat will be held from Tuesday, September 26 to Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Check in at the retreat centre before 5:00 p.m. and please arrive in time for dinner which starts at 5 p.m.

Attendees will each have their own private room with full bathroom (similar to a hotel room).  Your linens, towels, soap, etc. are all supplied in your room.

For those who are catching a ride, Peter will meet you at the Highway 407 TTC subway station passenger pick up location.  Please indicate on your registration form that you need a ride and we will forward more information to you.

If you are attending online, a zoom link will be sent to you closer to the meeting date.
