DESCRIPTION:On September 22nd\, Islington United Church and Indigenous People of Etobicoke will come together as an act of Reconciliation to bless the commissioned Indigenous mural\, Etobicoke — Place of the Alders: Honouring the Original Story. \nThe mural has been created by renowned Indigenous artist\, Philip Cote\, from Moose Deer Point First Nation. Philip is an Ancestral Knowledge Keeper\, Young Spiritual Elder\, Historian\, Activist\, and Educator. \nThe day will begin with the lighting of a Sacred Fire and Smudging\, followed by a Worship Service and Mural Blessing in the church Sanctuary. The event will culminate with Indigenous dancing\, singing\, drumming followed by an Indigenous lunch. Funds raised will help to support the many ministries of Islington United Church. \nThis fun event will offer an experience for all your senses – from eye catching décor that will transport you into the magical world of the Mad Hatter\, to a private concert offered by Jason Locke and Cynthia Smithers with delightful music from Alice in Wonderland\, fun Broadway classics and toe-tapping show tunes. \nAnd we haven’t even talked about the food\, yet! This evening is all about delightful food experiences. It’s not advertised as a dinner\, because it isn’t. But come hungry and we promise you will leave full.
