In the end we will celebrate in the knowledge that the God of love\, in whose image we are created\, encourages us and feeds our spirits through our interconnectedness. \nOur Guided Prayer Retreat is focussed on enabling participants to attend a prayer “retreat” \nwhile still maintaining their normal daily routine. Commitment to this Guided Prayer Retreat involves spending 30 minutes praying scripture at home\, and then coming to HVUC (or online by digital device or telephone) for another 30 minutes with a “prayer companion” each day of the retreat week\, from Monday to Friday. \nThe opening two-hour session will begin at 12:00pm on Sunday\, Mar. 12 and will include instruction on praying scripture. DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to finally be able to bring this fine choir to Etobicoke. Well-travelled with performances of some 300 concerts in churches\, cathedrals\, and concert halls across Canada\, the USA\, and the UK\, this group of about 40 men sings in the beautiful\, strong four-part harmonies associated with traditional Welsh choirs. \nTheir repertoire includes African-American spirituals\, operatic arias\, Canadian folk songs\, plus Broadway show tunes! \nThe ticket price includes sweet treats and a mug of warm cider at intermission.

After a two-year hiatus due to Covid\, the HV-UCW are eagerly looking forward to hosting our annual spring luncheon and card-playing event again.\nFrom noon to 3:00pm\, there will be fancy sandwiches and sweets\, an afternoon of card playing and a chance to win a door prize. Grab a deck of cards and round up your friends (ladies and gentlemen both welcome) for an afternoon of fun\, fellowship and cards – either bridge\, euchre\, cribbage\, or whatever game your table prefers.\nTickets are $30 – available from Jill Kershaw at the church on Sundays or by leaving a message on the ticket line at 416-231-2263  ext. 39.\nEven if you don’t have a full table of four\, put your name on the waiting list and we will try to find you partners. Masking protocols will be in place. DESCRIPTION:Let the music bring back some happy memories. On Sunday\, Feb. 27\, 2022\, Humber Valley United Church will host a joint venture with Briar Boake and friends to present an afternoon coffee house in Steed Hall from 2-4 pm. \nThe coffee house will feature Briar and two top guitar players\, exploring the pop music culture of the early 70s through story and song. Refreshments and treats will be available. Donations gratefully received anytime. Proceeds will be shared between the performers and Humber Valley United Church. \nThis is a ticketless event but\, in order to prepare\, all people wishing to enjoy this concert must REGISTER AT EVENTBRITE. Seating is limited and filling up quickly\, so we advise you to register early. \nAll HVUC COVID protocols will be followed\, meaning attendees will be asked to provide proof of double COVID 19 vaccination\, tables will be carefully spaced\, and attendees must wear N95 masks when not eating or drinking. These will be supplied if you can’t bring your own. Donations are welcome at anytime. Please indicate “Briar Boake Concert” on your donation.
