DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, January 18th\, Bloor Street United Church will welcome Rev. Dr. Chris Ferguson to deliver his Craddock Lecture during our 10:30am Worship service. As a life-long ambassador for social justice\, with extensive experience in Latin America\, the Middle East\, and at the United Nations\, Chris Ferguson will cast a sharp eye over what has been the experience of the Global South in recent decades while pointing to where transforming power is to be found. \nChris Ferguson is currently the International Visiting Professor at the the Universidad Reformada in Barranquilla\, Colombia\, and the past General Secretary of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (2014-2021). He served previously as the World Council of Churches representative to the United Nations and also as its representative to Jerusalem. He was Executive Minister of the United Church of Canada’s Justice\, Global and Ecumenical Relations Unit and a member of Bloor Street United Church. \nAfter service there will be a light lunch followed by Q&A. SUMMARY:Changing Seasons: Exploring Life's Transitions
DESCRIPTION:How can we face life’s transitions with grace\, integrity and courage? “Changing Seasons” is a retreat for people interested in exploring what it means to move through life’s transitions and how we can enter into times of change with intention and openness. \nOctober 15-16\, 2025\, 10am-3pm both days\nJanuary 21-22\, 2026\, 10am-3pm both days\nand May 6-7\, 2026\, 10am-3pm both days \nSign up for the fall retreat as an introduction before signing on to the winter and spring retreats. \nFall intro retreat: $100 \nWinter retreat: $125 \nSpring retreat: $125 \nFull three-season series: $300 (can be purchased after the fall introductory retreat – we’ll credit your account) \nThis retreat series takes place at the Rosedale Centre in Toronto. The Rosedale Centre is a secular community space offering music\, arts\, wellness\, and social programming for all ages. It hosts concerts\, art exhibitions\, community meetings\, and educational workshops. All are welcome. Located in Rosedale United Church\, the building is fully accessible and 2SLGBTQ+ affirming.

DESCRIPTION:Join former Moderator Carmen Lansdowne for a virtual 3 month study of The Leader’s Journey: Accepting the Call to Personal and Congregational Transformation\, by Herrington\, Taylor and Creech. The book is of interest to anyone in ministry leadership – whether paid or volunteer\, ordered or lay. Sessions run weekly\, from early February to early May with 3 weeks off for holidays. We will read one chapter per week and spend time in small groups and larger group discussion. Recordings will be available after each session for registered participants.
