SUMMARY:Thriving in Uncertain Times
DESCRIPTION:Life can be challenging and uncertain! Living in a COVID-19 world has added to that uncertainty and complicates our ability to cope with life’s most common challenges. Join facilitator Mary Thomson MSW\, RSW\, RP (Registered Social Worker & Psychotherapist) in this 2-part series\, as she helps us to deal with the continued uncertainty of these times. \nThis is an opportunity to name the uncomfortable emotions that are surfacing\, discuss the strategies that we are currently using\, and learn ways to cope more effectively. Mary will explore how to work with our thoughts and values to create flexibility\, resilience\, and hope. We will learn some principles and tools from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) so that we can move gradually from merely surviving to thriving. \nSession One: Tuesday\, March 1\, 7:00-9:00pm \nHow Are We Doing? Dealing with Uncertainty\, Loss and Change in a Not-Quite-Post-Covid-19-World: In this session we will reflect on the uncertainty we are experiencing; name and seek to understand our emotions and what may be contributing to our stress; reflect on the ways in which we are coping and on how we can do so even more effectively. \nSession Two: Wednesday\, March 9\, 7:00-9:00pm \nWhere Are We Going? Building Resilience and Finding Hope on the Way to a Still Uncertain Future: In this session we will reflect on such things as resilience and radical acceptance. We will learn how to struggle less with things that we can’t control\, how to be mindful and present with our experiences\, how to develop self-compassion and the ability to remain calm in the storm\, and how to exercise kindness and gratitude.

DESCRIPTION:Christian-Jewish Dialogue of Toronto warmly invites you to join us for an online conversation about peace-making in the Holy Land\, with members of the Interfaith Encounter Association.\nSunday\, March 6\, 2022\n1:30 to 2:30 p.m.\nOnline\, via Zoom \nTaleb Al-Harithi\nTaleb is a Muslim Palestinian from the town of Edna\, and a retired professor of Geology and Environment Sciences. A member of the IEA since 2003\, he believes the diversity of religions and opinions reinforces the respect we have towards each other\, not the conflict. \nCarolina Frimer\nCarolina is a Jewish Israeli\, and the Community Director of the Interfaith Encounter Association. She has a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a Master’s in Conflict Resolution from the Hebrew University.
