DESCRIPTION:Join us for an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in Godly Play. The retreat offers programming for children and adults. Adults will participate in a full Godly Play Core Training\, explore play and wondering\, and deepen in understanding of children’s spirituality. Children will hear stories\, experience worship\, play games\, do arts and crafts\, and much more. You are welcome to join this retreat without children\, this option is provided so parents can have the opportunity to join this retreat with ease. \nThis retreat is in 2 parts. The first part October 25-26 and second part November 15-16. SUMMARY:Rimbala Classes for Seniors
DESCRIPTION:Rimbala is an evidence-based falls prevention program that uses music as the principle means of intervention. Based on the work of visionary Swiss composer Émile Jaques-Dalcroze\, Rimbala enjoys one of the highest falls prevention results in the world\, with a 54% reduction in falls for community-dwelling seniors. \nOlder adults improve their gait (walking style)\, mobility\, cognitive skills and social intelligence in a relaxed but joyous setting. The improvised music brings fresh neuroplastic experiences that improves the connection between the body and brain in ways that conventional exercise cannot. SUMMARY:Fundraising Music Concert for Emmanuel College Sang Chul Lee Scholarship
DESCRIPTION:Korean Traditional Songs (pansori\, gayageum)\, Trumpet\, Youth Quartet Chamber\, Jazz and Piano by Emmanuel College professors\, and classic baritone song. \nThis music concert is going to be special because we are celebrating the 100th birth year of the late Very Right Rev. Dr. Sang Cheol Lee. This concert is also part of the United Church’s Centennial year celebration. We have good reasons to gather and mark these anniversaries with the fundraising effort. \nOver the course of almost 100 years\, scholarships have been awarded to Korean students at Emmanuel College with the generous support from the United Church of Canada. The first Korean scholarship recipient was awarded to Rev. Jaerin Moon in 1928\, the same year that Emmanuel College opened its doors for the first time. Since admission of Rev. Moon in 1928\, there have been many Korean graduates who have made admirable contributions to theology\, ministry\, social activism around democratization\, peace\, gender justice\, and unification issues in Korea\, within the United Church of Canada\, and around the world. Since its inception\, Korean descent students continue to be among the biggest ethnic minority group at Emmanuel and Toronto School of Theology. Yet\, there is no assigned scholarship for Korean students as of yet. As a way of remembering our history\, strengthening this long relationship and carrying a beautiful legacy\, we would like to host this fundraising event for establishing Korean scholarship at Emmanuel College.
