DESCRIPTION:The Walk ‘n Roll is your opportunity to help the Anglican United Refugee Alliance (a United Church Mission & Service partner in Shining Waters Region) to help refugees on Sept. 24\, 2022: \nYOU can enable hundreds of Canadians to gain the knowledge\, skills & strategies needed to welcome and support hundreds of refugees in their vitally important first year here. \nYOU can ensure that sponsors receive extensive training & mentorship to be well-prepared to help people who have endured great hardship. \nYOU can fuel sponsors as they help newcomers find housing\, health care\, learn English\, enroll children in school\, find employment & access community supports. \nDONATE to any TEAM at https://p2p-can.keela.co/walk-n-roll-for-refugees \nOR JOIN a TEAM! \nJOIN TEAM 1: \nIsland Refugee Riders: This team is meeting on Toronto Island to cycle the islands at a leisurely pace. They will cycle back and forth and at the end of the afternoon stop for a BBQ at St. Andrew-by- the-Lake. The team is varied\, including participants from St. Anne’s Anglican Church\, Gladstone. To join\, contact Stephen Drakeford: spdrakeford@gmail.com. \nJOIN TEAM 2: \nThe High Park/West End Riders Team will meet at the southwest corner of Bloor St and High Park Ave. (north entrance of High Park) at 10:00 am and bike east along the Martin Goodman waterfront trail to Tommy Thompson park. Bring a packed lunch or stop for snacks along the way. They will return along the same route\, for a total of approximately 25 km. DESCRIPTION:Grace United Church Brampton\, 156 Main St North. \nThis fall\, as part of our 200th Anniversary Celebrations\, we will again be offering FREE concerts in the Grace Sanctuary. These concerts will be held monthly\, on Saturday afternoons\, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. \nYou are invited to spread the word to family and friends. These concerts are our way to spread the good news throughout the community and all are welcome. \nKicking off the series\, we are thrilled to announce the first concert on Saturday\, September 24\, featuring the Joe Sealy Trio. In a profile in the Toronto Star in April of this year\, it was said of Joe Sealy – “Toronto is home to many great musicians\, but few so venerable as jazz composer and pianist Joe Sealy.” \nFor more than five decades Joe Sealy has enjoyed a successful career as a musician\, actor\, composer\, music director and recording artist. \nAll of his work and success has not gone unnoted. Joe is both proud of\, and humbled by\, the acclaim he has received. Major awards include: A Juno Award for CD\, Africville Suite: the Dora Mavor Moore Award for music direction in the Toronto production of Ain’t Misbehavin; and a Gemini Award nomination for his musical score for the documentary film The Road Taken. \nMark the date on your calendar now and come to enjoy the legendary Canadian musician and his trio in concert at Grace.
