Candlelight Lessons and Carols at Metropolitan

Our annual Candlelight Carol Service on Sunday, December 22 at 7 p.m. includes traditional readings from the Old Testament through the Gospel story of the birth of Jesus. The Metropolitan Choir, Handbells, and Great Heart will sing anthems including Thou Shalt Know Him by Mark Sirett, the chorale Lo, How a Rose, Gabriel’s Message by Eleanor Daley, The Holly and the Ivy arranged by Ola Gjeilo, and Dormi Jesu by Mark Sirett. Congregational carols include Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Away in a Manger, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, O Come, All Ye Faithful and others. The organ prelude and postlude will be played by Minister of Music Dr. Patricia Wright and by the Wayne C. Vance Organ Scholar Timothy Wisnicki.
