Opportunities To Offer Leadership in Shining Waters Regional Council
Shining Waters has a number of positions available in our governance structure. We are looking for people who reflect the diversity of Shining Waters Regional Council, including but not limited to, cultural and ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, geography and age. We want to have good representation from racialized communities or other groups that traditionally have been marginalized in church decision-making. We seek people who can offer fresh perspectives and insights; those who bring knowledge and experience from being active in local communities. We need people who can see the big picture, people who are interested in innovative ministry, people who can help develop policies and people with a keen eye for details.
If you are interested in becoming involved in the church at a regional level but aren’t sure what is the right role for you, members of the Nominations Committee would be happy to have a conversation with you about your gifts and interests and help you to find the place that would be the best fit for you.
People across the region are invited to express their interest or nominate others who have the gifts to serve in the following leadership roles:
We are seeking nominations for a President-Elect. This person provides key leadership to the region and the Executive during a four year term – one year as President-Elect, two years as President and one year as Past-President. The position description for this role is available HERE.
The Executive of Shining Waters Regional Council has two vacancies. The Executive attends to the work of visioning and planning for faithful and effective resource allocation to the mission needs of our context. Further details of the work of the Executive is available HERE.
Commissions and committees provide places for people with particular passions in areas of the Church’s mission to help shape and implement policies and programming that gives life to those areas of ministry.
• Communities of Faith Commission (2 vacancies)
• Equity Committee (2 vacancies)
• Grants Review Committee (4 vacancies)
• Intentional Interim Ministry Committee (2 vacancies – 1 layperson and 1 Ministry Personnel)
• Mission Support Committee (2 vacancies)
• Nominations Committee (5 vacancies)
• Pastoral Relations Commission (2 vacancies)
• Social and Ecological Justice Commission (2 vacancies)

Please share this information widely within communities of faith and across the regional council, and prayerfully consider whether you are called to serve in this way at this time in the life of Shining Waters Regional Council. Terms of office for most positions are typically for three years, renewable once. Interested candidates should review the information and complete the Nominations Form below
