Responsibilities
Mastard provides support for the region by encouraging and connecting communities of faith as they adapt and experiment in changing times. He also works along with other staff, to enourage and support ministry personnel.
Mastard works with churches north of Highway 407.
Mastard Sakala (he/him) Experience and Biography
Rev. Mastard Sakala was born and raised in Zambia, southern part of Africa. He was ordained in 2010 by the Reformed Church in Zambia (RCZ), where he served the church for eleven years before joining The United Church of Canada (UCC). Mastard served as a congregation minister in the RCZ alongside his position as Presbytery moderator. As Presbytery moderator, Mastard was involved in supporting the ministry personnel and the communities of faith in transition.
Mastard joined the UCC through the admission process in August 2021, and was admitted into the ordained ministry of The United Church of Canada in September 2022. Since August 2021, Mastard has been serving Harmony United Church in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Mastard joins the Shining Waters Regional Council with fourteen years of pastoral ministry experience. His ministry experience and his pastoral care skills will help him in his role as community of faith and pastoral relations support minister in the Shining Waters Regional Council.
Mastard lives in Thunder Bay with his wife Justina, and their two sons, Joshua and Madalitso.
I am excited to serve in Shining Waters Regional Council. I am looking forward to meeting many of you and visiting communities of faith in the region to get to know you and your hopes and challenges.
